Overview

A supplemental type certificate (STC) is a kinds of type certificate (TC) issued when an applicant demonstrates that change to a type design from aircraft, engine, or propeller’s its original design complies with the applicable regulations and Korean Airworthiness Standards(KAS). The STC, which incorporates by reference the related TC, approves not only the modification but also how that modification affects the original design.

A TSO authorization is approval issued by the minister of MLIT, when the applicant demonstrate compliance to applicable certification regulations and an applicant’s article meets the requirement of minimum performance standard. A TSO authorization includes design approval and production approval. In other words, a separate installation approval is required to install the TSO'd article model on an aircraft to show that the article meets the specific airworthiness requirements (certification basis) of a particular aircraft model.

Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) is a combined design and production approval for modification and replacement articles. The PMA holder may produce and sell these articles for installation on type certificated products.

A production Certification is an approval (document) to manufacture duplicate products under an MLIT-approved type design (i.e., type certificate or supplemental type certificate). To obtain one, the production application and approval process must be followed.
